I stopped taking my birth control last month so I honestly didn't expect anything to happen so fast. But then, two weeks ago, I started feeling nauseous (like that feeling you get when you are on a roller coaster and your stomach drops out from under you) and a little more tired. No period either, but that might have just been from going off birth control. When we were out with friends a few days ago, I said something that annoyed my husband so he poked me lightly in the stomach and that hurt a lot. It was weird... so I decided to take a test, just in case. I honestly was not expecting a plus sign! I thought "oh, this is probably just some weird side effect from stopping birth control. I should just take a test because these things are weird and I want to be able to tell the doctor 'yeah, I checked in x month and it was negative.'" But no. Plus sign. Twice! I didn't believe it so I went to the clinic on base and had them run a qualitative blood test as well.
I came into the clinic late, just as they were closing, to get my results. The nurse sits me down and says "Congratulations!" I almost regret my reaction ("No sh**?!"), because really, cursing when you find out you're pregnant? Seems like bad form. She asked about how far along I thought I was. At the time, I thought "oh, between two and three weeks." But I've been thinking about it (and started reading pregnancy books) and that would be wrong. It would be more like 5 weeks! Wow. I have been pregnant for five weeks and I didn't even know! That would be because of how doctors count, which is from the first day of the last period apparently. I told the nurse that we are moving soon (in like a month and a half). She told me that I would have two options when it is time to have the baby. I can either fly back to the US the month before my due date and have the baby in the US or I have to have the baby in a foreign hospital. Oh. Well, I'm not going to fly back because I want my husband there so...yay. I get to have a baby in a hospital where I don't speak the language. I guess I better start learning?
That was a few days ago. Since I found out, I've been even more nauseous (I'm afraid that its worse just because I found out and I expect to be sicker) and more tired. That's kind of nerve wrecking because the movers are coming in just 5 weeks and I have a lot to do. Its incredible how much crud you can accumulate in 3 years... We'll see how I'm feeling next week! Hopefully this starts going away soon but if what I've read is true, this is going to get worse. Good luck to me lol
